Within the scope of the present work, a new procedure for modulation-free frequency stabilization of a Iaser diode to a hyperfine structure transition of the Rb at 780,2 nm using the Zeeman effect has been developed. The relative long-term stability and reproducibility of the vacuum wavelength of the stabilized diode Iaser will be described.
The theoretical model describes the noise spectra of the two pump Iasers and it calculates how this pump noise is coupled into both the master and the slave Iasers, and finally how this in turn generates the output noise spectrum. For details about this model see ref. [3). All the results for the experiments testing the validity of our model are obtained using diode pumped nonplanar Nd:YAG ring Iasers as both master and slave Iasers [6, 7). In the experiments two types of Observations are made.
