We expected God to give great breakthroughs. We had our fellow members' interests at heart. We gave personal invitations to some of those especially in need of a job. We pleaded with them to come. We tried to remove every obstacle by providing lunch, child-care, and even transportation. We were not having a job seminar because we needed something to do on a Saturday; our intent was to meet a very specific need for a number of individuals. Because of God's faithfulness, the numerical response was good and the meeting was a success.
I would distribute audio cassettes on horse training. To train Sheik and other horses, I had applied Biblical principles for child rearing. They worked! I borrowed $500 on a credit card and started selling audio cassettes on horse training. The Lord blessed it. Over time it grew into a multi-million dollar enterprise. Today, sixteen years later, Kingdom, Inc. " Out of this endeavor grew a division called Kingdom Tapes, which supplies blank cassettes and electronics to churches all over the world.
I was reminded that paying 15 to 20 percent interest is like having a siphon hose in my back pocket. I resolved to stop accumulating this kind of debt immediately, if not sooner. Proverbs indicates the need for having a simple, easy-to-use budget. "Any enterprise is built by wise planning, becomes strong through common sense, and profits wonderfully by keeping abreast of the facts" (Proverbs 24:3-4 TLB). Christians need to study about money management for believers. We must learn to budget as well as make wise purchases.
