Having a conversation For example, I know I am good at what I do. ’ I sit down, and literally have a conversation between those two voices. I set out two chairs, and even put labels on the two chairs: cynic and expert. The two voices have a conversation, and I switch chairs as I adopt each voice. This usually means identifying the importance of: • • • • • • • being prepared; not having to be perfect; being willing to learn from others; being willing to go with the group’s issues; throwing out the need for ego reinforcement; remembering when I’ve done it well before; visualizing doing it well tomorrow.
What’s working? What’s not working? Exercise in belief (15 minutes) Take about 15 minutes out of your day to reflect. I would suggest doing this exercise in a time of quiet, when you will not be interrupted. Do this even on a non-work day.
